چکیده

Respiration rate is the necessary parameter for designing the storage conditions. In the present investigation, the effects of storage temperatures (5, 10, 15, 20, 25oC) and gas composition on the O2 consumption and the CO2 production have been studied by using the flow through system. The ratio of the respiration rate under controlled atmosphere (CA) conditions (1.6 to 20.7% O2, 0.2 to 10.2% CO2, balanced with N2) were calculated against the values under normal air condition. As a result, it was found that a decrease in O2 concentration suppressed O2 uptake at each temperature involving an increase of the respiratory quotient. On the other hand, an increase in CO2 concentration up to 10% suppressed both O2 uptake and CO2 output at 5–15oC with almost a constant respiratory quotient. Thus, low temperature combined with CA having 5–10% CO2 will be effective to suppress the respiration rate of tree-ripe ‘Irwin’ mango fruit, and O2 should be higher than 5% to avoid anaerobic respiration. Influence of environmental factors on the sap flux density of mango trees under rain-fed cropping systems in West Africa

Xylem sap flux density (Fd) was measured, on a 43-year-old (mature) and three 4-year-old (young) mango (Mangifera indica L.) trees, using Granier-type probes. The relative influences of environmental variables were examined under well-watered condition. Circumferential variation in Fd was also investigated by placing sensors on the north, south-west and south-east sides of the mature tree. Sap ...

The expression of alternative oxidase and uncoupling protein during fruit ripening in mango.

The expression of alternative oxidase (Aox) and uncoupling proteins (Ucp) was investigated during ripening in mango (Mangifera indica) and compared with the expression of peroxisomal thiolase, a previously described ripening marker in mango. The multigene family for the Aox in mango was expressed differentially during ripening. Abundance of Aox message and protein both peaked at the ripe stage....

Volatile and quality changes in fresh-cut mangos prepared from firm-ripe and soft-ripe fruit, stored in clamshell containers and passive MAP

A study was performed to assess volatile and quality changes in stored fresh-cut mangos prepared from ‘‘firm-ripe’’ (FR) and ‘‘soft-ripe’’ (SR) fruit, and to assess what effect passive modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) may have on cut fruit physiology, overall quality and volatile retention or loss. Florida-grown ‘Keitt’ and ‘Palmer’ mangos were used, without heat-treatment. Subjective apprai...

Automated Detection of Fully and Partially Riped Mango by Machine Vision

Mango quality assessment is important in meeting market requirements. The quality of the mango can be judge by its length, thickness, width, area, etc. In this paper on the basis of simple mathematical calculations different parameters of a number of mango are calculated. The present paper focused on the classification of mangoes using morphological Operations. A video containing mangoes hangin...
